RBS hires ahead of ‘active year’

Heath ThomasHeath Thomas has left the student accommodation developer Mansion Group to join Royal Bank of Scotland as director of real estate finance in the North.

Thomas will join the team responsible for supporting clients in the Manchester, Liverpool, Preston and Chester city regions. At Mansion Group in Manchester he was director of fund management and banking relations. Prior to that he spent 12 years at Barclays in various roles in the real estate, corporate and retail banking divisions.

He said: "I am thrilled to be joining the team at RBS Real Estate Finance in the North. We have a strong appetite for transactions in the North and elsewhere, and we are passionate about our customers and trying to help them achieve their ambitions. We have a dedicated team with more than 100 years of real estate experience between us, just in Manchester alone. Our team provides open and honest relationship services that customers can trust. The team is also extremely innovative and always looks for a positive outcome."

Stuart Heslop, regional managing director of RBS Real Estate Finance, said: "RBS are committed to the real estate market in the UK and being on the ground around the country is extremely important to our understanding of the market and our ability to support our clients. Heath will be looking for opportunities to support new and existing clients to acquire property investments and develop new commercial and residential development schemes. The regional market is showing real signs of recovery and we expect 2014 to be a very active year."

Thomas replaced Andrew Dexter, who has moved to another role within RBS.
