Quorum secures consent for Stockport Homes HQ

Plans for a 70,000 sq ft office in Edward Street in the town centre have been approved.

The application from developer Quorum Estates proposed the redevelopment of a car salesroom and vacant industrial premises opposite the Town Hall to make way for the Stockport Homes office. The block will be set over four floors and will front onto the A6.

The development will see the consolidation of Stockport Homes' existing services into one location.

NJL Consulting provided planning advice and AEW Architects designed the scheme.

The cost of the head office is being funded by a loan from Stockport Council and will offer a suite of facilities to visiting customers as well as providing a base for Stockport Homes' employees as they take its services out into the community.

Roger Phillips, chairman of Stockport Homes, said: "Planning permission for the new head office marks a new and exciting chapter for Stockport Homes. This new space will enable us to embrace more modern, flexible and efficient methods of working whilst providing a central location for staff, but more importantly, improved facilities for our customers."

Steve Burne, managing director of AEW Architects said: "We have been working with Quorum on this site for over 10 years and it is great to now be able deliver such an exciting scheme. The sensitive location of the site within the Conservation Area and next to the magnificent Town Hall has led to a design which responds to the context and will add to the civic feel of the area."
