Pugh & Co sale achieves £5.8m

Auctioneer Pugh & Co sold 68% of lots on offer at its last Manchester sale, generating £5.8m in sales.

The best-selling properties of the day included a vacant two bedroom ground floor apartment in Hale, Altrincham which had a guide price of £115,000 plus and sold for £164,000. A vacant fire-damaged mid terrace house in Padiham, Burnley, went for more than double the bottom guide price of £10,000 and sold for £26,000.

Kate Lay, pictured, head of Pugh's residential division, said: "We are seeing more interest from investors and many people are turning to auction to buy and sell their properties. The auction room saw a lot of competitive bidding which is reflected in the prices some of the lots sold for.

"We also had a lot of interest in the commercial sector on the auction day with sales coming in at just over £2.9m."

Altogether the auction offered 132 commercial and residential lots and in total 68% of all lots sold.

The closing date for entering a property into the next wave of May auctions across Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle is Wednesday, 2 May.
