Public consultation into Salford eco park facility

A public consultation is being held in Salford into the proposed plans by Sky Properties to build a new facility to recycle waste and generate renewable energy.

Residents and other interested parties are being invited to view and discuss the multi-million pound plans for a renewable energy facility in December.

Developer Sky Properties plans to construct the Green Lane Eco Park on 3.8 hectares of disused industrial land off Green Lane, Salford, to contribute to sustainable waste management in Greater Manchester and create more than 50 full-time jobs.

The facility would incorporate unique gasification technology from Energos, a division of Salford-based sustainable energy business Ener-G.

Provided Salford City Council grants planning permission for the Eco Park it will treat and manage about 240,000 tonnes of local business waste each year via a Materials Recovery Facility, an Anaerobic Digestion plant and a Gasification plant.

A three-day public consultation event is to be held at Monton House Hotel, 116 Monton Road, Monton on:

  • Thursday, 3 December 2pm-7pm
  • Saturday, 5 December 2pm-6pm
  • Sunday, 6 December 10am-2pm

The total size of the facility to be built was not disclosed.
