The developer has secured consent from Manchester City Council for its 229-bedroom hotel on Rochdale Road and is in talks to appoint an operator.
Designed by Jon Matthews Architects and reaching 10 storeys, the hotel will sit on a site between developer Moda Living’s Angel Gardens and the recently completed Hampton by Hilton hotel, delivered by Create Developments.
Premcor bought the site from Realty Estates in January for an undisclosed sum. Realty Estates had won consent for a 15-storey apartment scheme, designed by architects Hodder + Partners, prior to the sale.
Under Premcor’s plans, the L-shaped building will feature a ground floor restaurant, bar and reception area.
WSP is the planning consultant for the project and Gardiner & Theobald is the project manager and quantity surveyor.
Consultants Hann Tucker Associates, Civic Engineers, Planit-IE and Hydrock are also on the project team, and GMI Construction Group is lined up to build the hotel.
Last week, Premcor, headed up by former Urban & Civic directors Rob Lane and Simon Hawkins, secured consent for a 71-bedroom Premier Inn in Keswick.
The developer’s Keswick scheme forms part of a £20m development push around the UK’s national parks by Premier Inn’s owner Whitbread.
As well as hotels, Premcor is developing retail and residential projects outside the North West.
