Port Salford decision deferred again

Property and transport giant Peel Holdings' application for a new container terminal on the Manchester Ship Canal, already nearly five years in Salford City Council's planning queue, has stalled again after councillors asked to see another impact assessment report.
The planning committee was due to decide on the application for a 200-acre logistics park with two new berths at this month's meeting.
A spokesman for Salford City Council said: "The deferral was because members wanted more information from the applicants on how they would reduce the impact of the scheme on local residents."
If delivered, the scheme, formerly known as Barton Moss, would house 1.5m sq ft of rail-served warehousing and 40 acres of container yard.
