Plans in for Eden crematorium conversion

A planning application has been submitted to Eden Council to transform Ash Hill Farm into a crematorium by Cumbrian funeral operator Fishwicks.

The 2.7-acre site has four existing farmhouses of varying sizes, which are to be repaired and then converted into associated crematorium infrastructure including offices and an entrance lobby. There are 56 car parking spaces also proposed with space reserved for overflow parking, with the crematorium itself having capacity for 150 visitors.

Part of the land surrounding the barn will used for the burial ground and memorial garden. When ashes are scattered or a burial takes place, there are proposals for a tree to be planted to eventually create a woodland.

Ash Hill Farm is two miles from Temple Sowerby and seven miles from Penrith.

The planner associated with this project is Planning Branch, and HM Architecture designed the plans.
