PlaceFirst details Morecambe project

Specialist build-to-rent developer PlaceFirst has released images of its West End One development in Morecambe, which will see 51 houses and apartments available for private rent in January 2016.

West End One will be clustered around a central, landscaped courtyard. The new homes have been created through the remodelling of 27 former guesthouses and, when completed, will offer a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes.

All homes will be available for private rent with PlaceFirst.

The £5.5m project is the first phase of a two phase development that will see over 50 empty, former guesthouses transformed into modern, energy efficient family homes.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Lancaster City Council.

PlaceFirst commenced work on site in May, with the first homes ready for release in January 2016. Details of individual properties and rents are expected to be released autumn 2015.

David Smith-Milne, managing director of PlaceFirst, said: “These images really capture the transformation of the empty properties and how we are remodelling them to create aspirational, affordable homes for rent.

“This development will raise the quality of private renting in Morecambe and breathe new life and confidence into the West End area of the town. The interest in West End One has been very encouraging, with more than 140 registers of interest for 51 homes prior to launching a marketing campaign in the autumn.”

PlaceFirst aims to deliver 1,000 properties rental homes across the North over the next two years as the business grows into a leading provider of high quality, affordable build-to-rent housing in the UK.
