Peel’s outdoor Media City screen approved

Salford City Council has given the green light to Peel Group to install an outdoor screen on the piazza at the 36-acre development in Salford Quays.

The double-sided will measure 4.608m high by 6.912m wide and will be situated in-between two of the six lighting columns that are positioned in the centre of the Media City UK's piazza.

The piazza is divided into two sections, The Green park area and The Stage hard-standing zone, which has already hosted a range ofe events.

Stephen Wild, managing director of Media City UK, said: "We are delighted that Salford City Council has approved our plans for an outdoor screen at the heart of MediaCityUK. We are now exploring a number of options to ensure a wide variety of content is displayed on the screen to appeal to the diverse needs of visitors, residents and workers."

A range of potential content providers includes the BBC, Salford University and ITV, as well as visiting event companies organising activities within the outdoor space or in the Open Centre.

It is anticipated the screen will be in place by spring 2012.
