NHS Trust seeks developers for new Altrincham hospital

Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust is looking to appoint a developer for the redevelopment or construction of a new building for Altrincham General Hospital.

The Trust has published a tender for a construction contract, ranging between £10m and £20m, for a new hospital to be built on its existing site or another suitable site available to any developers within Altrincham town centre.

The current facilities are no longer fit for purpose and are too large for the services currently being delivered. In addition to the existing hospital site, the Trust also owns St Anne's Hospital in Bowdon which is situated in a prime residential area near to Altrincham General Hospital.

The hospital has not been in use since 2004. The Trust has said submitting tenders may be asked to make proposals for the acquisition and or disposal of this site and the current AGH site if a move to a new location is needed.

The new hospital is expected to be open by 2011 or early 2012.

A 'bidders' day' is being held at 4.30pm on Thursday 26 February at the Premier Inn hotel at Trafford Centre West, Manchester.

The deadline for submitting tenders is Friday 20 March.
