New Liverpool Waters images released
Peel Group has released new images of its planned Liverpool Waters development in the city's Central Docks area.

The images reflect the lowered maximum heights of buildings to the north of the scheme around Stanley Dock where watchdog English Heritage is concerned about the potential impact on views of the World Heritage-listed dock. Buildings will be limited to 15 storeys at that point. Taller buildings will be limited to Princes Dock and Clarence Dock where heights could reach 55 storeys.
English Heritage recently said it would not support the application as the information provided by Peel "does not allow the effect of the development on historic buildings to be assessed accurately".
Peel plans 14m sq ft of mixed-use development on 150 acres. A decision on the application is expected in the summer.
The second of two free events to present the plans to the public will be held on Monday 7 February at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Princes Dock from 6pm.
Its OK! But in a way im slightly underwhelmed! If you compare the new designs compared to the great older skyscrasper city images, it has lost its WOW factor… Once again English Heritage has managed to take us back to the stone ages – Im just grateful English heritage was not around the 18th and 19th century as they would have blocked the whole of liverpool city centre as it would have gone against the grain of somalian style fishing villages along the coasts!!!

I’d echo Naz’s comments, I was generally expecting something… well… ‘better’. It all seems a bit predictable and distinctly unimposing on the skyline (as I suppose EH want it to be). Not exactly alot of ‘greenery’ to shout about either

who does these god awful visuals- really, can’t Peel afford a professional team to present such a large development. Is there a genuine reason why they use second rate first year graphics students? unless their trying to emphasis the second rate nature of the architecture?

Same old, same old by corporate developer. Big glass slabs as high as possible, no thoughtfulness, no environmentally sensitive buildings (and I mean sensitive to their surrounding environment) low impact etc. Isn’t it time for a change for goodness sake, someone come up with something different that isn’t about making a fast buck and cramming everybody into the most soulless, empty place possible devoid of any greenery or relationship to the natural landscape?

si: any JMU 1st year could do a better job of doing what is shown here: find generic tower designs copy and paste them into an existing aerial or standing photograph add unrealistic people to create the illusion of life in an altogether pitiful scheme. Dull, uninspiring and lacking in any imagination. having said that, the development doesn’t follow the barometer of bad taste known as the Trafford Centre, so we can only be thankful Peel aren’t subjecting us to a mock Roman dock side development.
