NDA suppliers event to return

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is drawing up plans to repeat its meet-the-buyer event for small and medium sized businesses interested in supplying the sector.

The first event took place in Novermber 2011 and was part of the NDA's campaign to shake up the supply chain with new companies and more streamlined procurement processes.

Smaller subcontract packages starting at £50,000 are available for the lower tiers of suppliers below NDA, Sellafield and Magnox.

The NDA is also planning to create a simplified generic pre-qualification questionnaire and a single procurement internet portal for the industry.

At the next event in Bolton – provisional date 22 November 2012 – prospective suppliers will be able to present to top-tier nuclear companies at free exhibition stands.

The NDA is responsible for 19 former nuclear power station and waste sites and has an annual budget of £3bn.
