Midas picks chamber boss as new chief
Angie Robinson will replace Colin Sinclair as the chief executive of Manchester’s inward investment agency Midas.
Tim Newns has been appointed deputy chief executive to Robinson. Robinson joins Midas from Greater Manchester Chamber, where she was chief executive. Newns is to be promoted from his current role at Midas as director of business development.
Sinclair was in the chief executive’s position for five years before quitting to join Manchester-based office developer Bruntwood.
Michael Oglesby, non-executive chairman of Midas and founder chairman of Bruntwood, said: “Angie and Tim will make an excellent team combining their very different but complementary skills to the vital task of bringing new jobs to the city region in tough economic times.
“Angie is a high profile member of the Manchester Business Community and brings with her to Midas a wealth of experience in corporate and public sector relationships.
“Tim has an impressive track record in inward investment and together they make a strong team which will be vital to the future drive to attract new business to the city region.
“Colin has done an incredible job at Midas and I am sure that Angie and Tim will build on the excellent work of the organisation to date and continue to drive the global business marketing and promotion of Manchester.”
