Stockport’s grade two-listed Meadow Mill, located on Water Street close to the Portwood roundabout, is being converted into 213 flats by Saudi Arabia-based developer Majdiah Residence, and is due to complete next May.
The 178,000 sq ft residential-led, mixed-use scheme is part of a £15m renovation of the mill that Majdiah Residence bought in July 2018, from London-based developer William George Homes.
William George Homes had secured consent for a residential development the previous year.
CJ Partnership is the architect for the latest scheme and Peter Rowlinson Planning advised on the application.
The seven-storey mill, which was built in 1880, was originally occupied by T&J Leigh for cotton and wool spinning.
Under Majdiah’s ownership, Meadow Mill has undergone an extensive renovation programme, delivered by the company’s development arm.
The scheme provides a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as 24,000 sq ft of leisure and commercial space. A further 2,000 sq ft is allocated for restaurant use.
Stockport property agent Impey & Company has been appointed to market the ground floor commercial space, which has been split into five individual units.

Impey & Company surveyor Johnathan Poole, added: “The renovation of Meadow Mill will deliver a wide range of new uses designed to meet the needs of modern occupiers.”
