Livesey Group goes into administration

Preston-based construction group Livesey has gone into administration, resulting in the closure of several building sites around the region.

Administrators were due to be appointed on Monday. Around 100 sub-contracted workers could be affected by the failure.

Livesey's work is most concentrated in Liverpool, where schemes hit include Neptune Developments' Science Park on Mount Pleasant and Iliad's 61-unit residential Lever Court in Duke Street, as well as the 14-storey Columbus Quay for a local private developer and Hamilton House on Pall Mall.

A spokesman for Iliad said a performance bond for just this eventuality protected all its projects. He added that Livesey had been displaying problems for six months and the move was not altogether surprising.
