Liverpool MIPIM programme announced

The schedule for Liverpool City Region’s MIPIM campaign has been released ahead of the international property showcase in Cannes next month.

Marketing Liverpool, which project manages the delegation, said that 2019 will see the largest Liverpool effort yet, with 42 organisations signed up.

Central to the Liverpool campaign will be the morning of Wednesday 13 March at the Gray d’Albion hotel, which will see presentations and sessions from the LCR combined authority, Liverpool City Council, Sciontec Liverpool and Peel Land & Property, hosted by Prof. Michael Parkinson.

Within the Palais des Festivals, Liverpool will be in its usual space at stand R7.G2 in the Riviera Hall. The stand has been designed by Marketing Liverpool and K2 Architects, and will host 18 events across three days, also acting as a full-time hub for the Liverpool delegation.

Both Steve Rotheram as metro mayor and city mayor Joe Anderson are scheduled to speak at various events, along with Liverpool’s chief executive Tony Reeves. Combined authority chief executive Frank Rogers is pencilled in for a Northern Powerhouse Rail session on the UK stand on Tuesday 12 March.

Deloitte partner Sean Beech, who chairs the Liverpool at MIPIM steering group, said: “Each year the strength and breadth of the Liverpool delegation increases, and this is reflected in the schedule. Our new twelve-month programme, encompassing both MIPIM UK and MIPIM Cannes together with our regular events programme in Liverpool, has proven very popular with our partners and associates, and, I believe, has helped to reinforce the real sense of collaboration and teamwork across the delegation.

“As is clear when we are in Cannes, the Liverpool brand needs no introduction on the global stage. However, we do need to work harder to drive greater business activity in our city region – and as the private sector, we can help by talking with confidence about our welcoming talent pool, the strength of our local transport connections, our excellent learning institutions and research facilities, and our wonderful cultural heritage.”

Yet again, the spare mayor appearing where he is neither use nor ornament. Of course he’s going to be there. 1) it’s in Cannes. 2) the city’s real mayor, Steve Rotherham, is going to be there, trying to do what he’s paid to do regardless.

Never mind that each time it draws comments and therefore detracts from Liverpool’s benefit. What does that matter?

I hate the term Liverpool city region. It serves the city centre of Liverpool and nowhere else.

Better than “Prenton nowhere?”

By Just saying

The spare mayor is laughable now. Council spending cash in France that could go on helping poorest in the city. How is this jolly justified in this day and age? Can see the benefits for the likes of Deloitte but not much else.

Prenton Paul – any investment into the Liverpool City Centre serves the Liverpool City Region.

Prenton ? Where who?

@Prenton /Heswall same person anyhow, Prenton is part of The Liverpool CITY Region wether you like it or not, Liverpool is a major City within that region so if Liverpool is thriving that creates an over spill to its region and for the UK as a whole , why would you not want to be a part of such a great City because it’s doing really well for the economy plus much better than most parts of the UK?
I suggest you move because if you think being part of Cheshire is going to create jobs in prenton ? Compared to a major thriving City your completely deluded , Wirral in the past 10 years is improving and benefitting being part of my wonderful City.

Way hay ! MIPIM here we come !! Good to see the hard pressed public sector can always find some cash to jet off to the south of France. It’s all about priorities….

Well some of us actually prefer the term Liverpool City Region than the old fashioned term Merseyside. Greater Liverpool or the Liverpool Bay Area would have been my preferred terminology for the area. Looking forward to reading about this come March.
