Law firm leaves Silkhouse for St Paul’s Square
MSB Solicitors has relocated its city centre commercial headquarters to 6,100 sq ft on the first floor of No 4 St Paul’s Square.
The firm has agreed a 10-year lease and will vacate its space at Silkhouse Court in Tithebarn Street, a building sold by Commercial Estates Group to Fortis and Signature Living for residential conversion in May this year.
MSB, which also has offices in Allerton and Wavertree, now employs 100 people in the city. Staff numbers have risen by 10% this year, and the firm has said that five new partners will be appointed in March 2017.
Managing partner Paul Bibby established MSB in 1988 with Sean Sexton. Bibby said: “Silkhouse Court has been a fantastic home for us over the past six years and has allowed us the space to grow, put plans into practice and achieve some of our objectives as a firm.
“However, when the building was sold, it prompted a move that was probably overdue. We really feel that this is the ideal address for us, putting us amongst a number of our peers and partners and with all of the facilities we need to continue to develop.”
Interiors specialist Aztec has completed the fit-out of the new office.
Mark Worthington, co-founder of Worthington Owen, negotiated terms on behalf of MSB, with Neil Kirkham of CBRE joint agents on the building along with GVA, representing landlord English Cities Fund. The headline rent is £18.50/sq ft.
Completed in 2011, the 109,000 sq ft eight-storey No 4 building was the final element of English Cities Fund’s St Paul’s Square. The deal takes the building to just over half full, with other occupiers including Mercer and Santander Corporate.
