J Hopkins expands in Trafford

Civil engineering firm J Hopkins Contractors has paid £2m to buy a 135,000 sq ft building in Westinghouse Road, Trafford Park from an unnamed venture capital firm.

The former TDG building will be partly demolished to adapt the building to suit the buyer's needs. J Hopkins, which turned over £10m in 2010 and produced a £614,000 pre-tax profit, is currently based in Mercury Way, Urmston. TDG moved to a 310,000 sq ft building, Merlin 310, on Trafford Park, in 2008.

WHR Property Consultants advised J Hopkins Contractors. Mike Rooney, partner at WHR, said: "Trafford Park always has been and will always continue to be the North West's leading industrial destination. We are seeing increasing activity in the industrial market with a gradual rise in take up, particularly at the larger end of the scale."
