ISG reaches £66m arena extension milestone

The contractor has installed a 30-tonne bridge to connect Arena & Convention Centre Liverpool to its new sister venue Exhibition Centre Liverpool.

The 36-metre glass and steel bridge, designed by Denton Corker Marshall and engineered by Booth King, will provide a pedestrian link between the ACC which opened in 2008 with the 870,000 sq ft exhibition hall and Pullman hotel, due to open in September 2015.

Alan McCarthy-Wyper, managing director of ISG's construction business, said: "Whilst the bridge will not be handed over until the development is complete, the positioning of the steelwork marks a major milestone for this project. The bridge will form a physical and metaphorical link between Liverpool's past and its future which will become a lasting landmark for the city."
