IconInc on site with £24m Liverpool student block

A Leeds-based student accommodation developer has started on site with its first project in Liverpool, a £24m scheme in the Ropewalks district.

IconInc, part of Yorkshire firm Parklane Group, bought the cleared site from Legacy Student Living, and is building a 192-apartment development, designed by Fletcher Rae.

The contractor is Tolents, which also built an IconInc project called The Edge for Parklane in Leeds.

The Ascent in Liverpool will be a 12-storey development on Renshaw Street, made up of 192 self-catering student apartments with en-suite bathrooms.

The development is aimed at the luxury student accommodation market, so includes an on-site gym with personal trainers, a cinema room, a games zone, sauna and steam room, continental daily breakfast, study rooms, self-service pantry and 24hr concierge. Tenants can choose from a range of optional extras including professional cleaning, daily fresh fruit delivery, kitchen equipment, luxury Egyptian cotton towels and bedding chosen by IconInc’s interior designers.

Naveen Ahmed, managing director of IconInc, said; “We have ambitious plans for the IconInc brand with a vision to open developments in university cities nationwide and are pleased to announce that the second development in the IconInc portfolio will be in Liverpool.

“IconInc is the first of its kind in the region and aims to meet the growing demand for a more superior quality of student living in Liverpool, catering to the changing needs and requirements of the student market.”

Parklane Group has a number of divisions including Roomzzz, an aparthotel chain with locations across the UK, and Parklane Properties, the largest independent landlord in Leeds.
