Stena Line has published a time-lapse video showing the refurbishment of its Stena Lagan ship, one of two on the Liverpool-Belfast route, in the Harland & Wolf yard in Belfast.

The company paid £40m to buy the ferry route from DFDS last year, and began a major ship upgrade with the £4m refit of sister ships Stena Mersey and Stena Lagan.

The refurbishment started in March and was completed in April. Specialist marine outfitters MJM Marine from Newry carried out the work.

New onboard facilities include an internet area with five iMacs, a Trucker's Lounge, free Wi-Fi onboard, Metro Bar & Grill and Metro Restaurant.

Stena Line has also appointed a new route director for the Liverpool – Belfast service, Richard Horswill, based out of Twelve Quays in Birkenhead. Horswill was previously interim head of logistics at the Garden Centre Group.
