HMV stores not just for Christmas

HMV said six pop-up stores created for the festive rush will remain open, including units in Bury and Burnley.

Confirmation of the new stores came as HMV reported a trading update for the five weeks ending 2 January 2010.

Group sales including Waterstone's rose 6.7%, with like for like sales down 1.2%. There was record trading for the third successive year at HMV UK, with total sales growth of 14.6% driven by the performance of ex-Zavvi and temporary Christmas stores. HMV UK & Ireland like for like sales were up 2.2%, giving two-year like for like growth of 5.3%.

The four other stores staying open are in Bluewater, Bedford, Loughborough and Torquay.
