Go-ahead for Holmes Chapel Sainsbury’s

Bluemantle and Sainsbury's Supermarkets have been granted planning consent from Cheshire East Council for a 45,000 sq ft Sainsbury's foodstore in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

The store will be located on the former Fisons site on London Road and will also provide 260 car parking spaces, a re-cycling centre and a petrol filling station. Bluemantle said that the scheme would create up to 175 new full and part-time jobs.

Simon Isherwood, director at Bluemantle, said: "This new foodstore will have a significantly beneficial impact on the local area as it will enable residents to do their weekly food shop in Holmes Chapel, preventing 'leakage' to neighbouring towns.

"In 2012, we secured planning for 230 new homes on the adjoining site which is currently being developed out by Bellway Homes and Bloor Homes. The development of a new foodstore will provide a much needed facility for Holmes Chapel's growing population."

HOW Planning acted as planning consultants for the application. The architect is Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson.
