Firethorn’s 700,000 sq ft Ellesmere Port scheme advances

The commercial real estate investor and developer has secured planning permission to redevelop Port Cheshire, a 42.5-acre brownfield site bought from Peel Ports Group last November. 

Following the acquisition, Cheshire West and Chester Council has now granted Firethorn Trust planning permission to speculatively develop the 700,000 sq ft Link Logistics Park.  

Construction is due to start in January, and the project is expected to complete before the end of 2022.  

Paul Martin, development director at Firethorn Trust, said: “Link Logistics Park is a hugely exciting addition to our expanding portfolio. We are continuing to work closely with the local council to ensure the swift delivery of a high-quality scheme that will bring significant and long-lasting economic benefits to the wider region. 

“We look forward to transforming this brownfield site into a modern and sustainable industrial development, which is expected to attract significant interest from major occupiers. 

“This scheme reflects Firethorn’s ambition to provide social and economic benefit to local stakeholders and occupiers, by regenerating disused manufacturing facilities into much needed and industry leading logistics solutions.” 

Located off junction 7 of the M53, Link Logistics Park will be net-zero carbon in construction, with a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ specification, according to Firethorn.
