Farmers sell Lakes holiday park

Hartsop Fold Lakeland Lodges between Ullswater and Brotherswater in Cumbria has been sold by a local consortium to Lyon Property Investment for a sum close to the guide price of £985,000.

Charles Chamberlain, director of Lyon, said: "Our immediate plans are to build on and where possible improve on the excellent service and reputation provided by the previous owners. Hartsop Fold already has an excellent team of staff so the change in regime should be seamless. Hartsop Fold will be a great addition to our existing businesses. We will now be able to offer holiday lodges to let in the Lake District and not just sell private holiday homes as we do at our nearby holiday lodge development Flusco Wood."

The 4.3 acre site in Patterdale Valley provides 12 Scandinavian-style self-catering lodges.

This is the first time the holiday park has changed hands since it was established by a consortium of local farmers and businessmen in 1981.

Colliers International advised the vendor.
