Developers offered Greater Manchester waste sites

Jones Lang LaSalle has been instructed by Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority to bring to the market a portfolio of 17 former landfill sites located around the conurbation.

The sites total 700 acres and were decommissioned in the 1970s and '80s. JLL will market the sites either as a single portfolio or in separate smaller parcels depending on demand from developers. There is an on-going monitoring role which GMWDA will expect the eventual purchaser to take on.

David Lathwood, director of Jones Lang LaSalle, is advising GMWDA. He said: "It is the scale of the opportunity that will interest the market. Seventeen large, well located sites around the Manchester conurbation will inevitably offer a range of development opportunities across many sectors. We are confident that there will be strong developer interest both regionally and nationally in this opportunity."

Jones Lang LaSalle has been instructed to handle the sale of all the sites and it is likely that the portfolio will come to the market towards the end of this year.
