Crewe gypsy site plans go in this week
Cheshire East Council will submit a planning application this week for a permanent gypsy and traveller camp on Parkers Road in Crewe.
The application will be made on Wednesday and a decision is expected in March. If approved, the council will create 10 pitches and an amenity block with washrooms, kitchen, dayroom and laundry.
In accordance with the planning process, there will be a period of consultation where residents will be able to write to the council expressing their views. Residents in the immediate locality, plus others who have written with comments in advance of the application, will be notified of its submission.
All existing comments made on the proposal will also be considered as part of the planning application process.
The council said it has received a petition from residents campaigning against the proposed site. The matter will be debated at the next meeting of full council on 23 February.

Are they trying to degenerate and make Crewe look unappealing to Investors? Surely they should be doing what is possible to stop this influx of disambiguation?

ADD: The council says there are currently 28 authorised sites in Cheshire East. Last year there were 20 unauthorised encampments.
As well as plans for a permanent camp the council is looking for a location for a transit site.

Have some consideration for the residents in this area. No body wants the gypsy sites. It will ruin the area as we are already having all our beautiful green fields ruined by thousands of new houses being built. I for one will no longer feel safe walking around the place I love living. I’m also very worried about my children as obviously the gypsy children will be going to our children’s school! this would be a seriously bad idea and I hope you actually listen to the local residents for a change as we have to put up with knowing they are ruining the last bit of green land we have left here!
