C&R director retires

Capital & Regional has announced non-executive director Alan Coppin is retiring after two full terms with the board.

Hugh Scott-Barrett, chief executive of Capital & Regional, said: "I have much enjoyed working with Alan over the last two years and have appreciated his counsel. I wish him every success in the future."

Capital & Regional sold the 21,000-seat MEN arena in Manchester to Development Securities in June for £62.2m and currently owns the Great Northern Warehouse in Manchester city centre. The company also managers a fund with Aviva Investors, which owns the 609,000 sq ft The Mall shopping centre in Blackburn.

Speaking about his retirement on Thursday, Coppin said: "My time with Capital & Regional has been interesting, challenging at times, but always enjoyable and I will look back at the last six years with great fondness."

Coppin's decision to step down was previously announced in Capital & Regional's 2009 Annual Report.
