Countryside picked for district regen scheme

Countryside Properties has been selected provisionally as preferred developer to deliver new housing in the Brinnington suburb of north Stockport.

A report will be presented to Stockport Council's executive on 2 April outlining the recommended next steps for the regeneration of Brinnington.

If the recommendations are approved, consultation regarding new housing and leisure facilities in the area will begin.

The proposals include new leisure facilities at a more central location, replacing the Life Leisure Lapwing centre. This option arose out of a consultation in 2011.

Consultation begins on Monday 18 March into plans to relocate Castle Hill High School from its current base in Brinnington to the site of the former Offerton School.

The regeneration report will be considered by the central area committee and a number of scrutiny committees, before being presented to the Executive on 2 April 2013.
