Countryside adds household retailer in Salford

Convenience retailer, Costcutter, has opened a 5,300 sq ft shop at Countryside Properties' New Broughton development.

Retailer Pan Patel said: "I have seen the recession as a great business opportunity; it has allowed me to expand when most other retailers are cutting back. I have been able to take advantage of competitive rates and open up for business in quality premises which echoes the Costcutter brand.

Countryside Properties said interest in the 20,000 sq ft Vibe district shopping centre is strong despite the recession. Costcutter joins Victoria Chemist which opened in July.

Les Brown, regional project director for Countryside Properties, said: "Costcutter is an important signing for The Vibe; it is a good retailer that will play a much needed role in attracting more like minded businesses to invest in the area. Residents have expressed the need and desire for affordable shopping facilities for many years so it is satisfying that we are now able to deliver on our commitment to them."

Tushingham Moore advises Countryside.
