Council names Baron’s Quay delivery team
Cheshire West & Chester Council has appointed building consultants Rider Levett Bucknall, architects Broadway Malyan, and Lambert Smith Hampton and Tushingham Moore as letting and investment agents on the £100m Northwich development.
The council seized back development control of the 300,000 sq ft scheme covering 25 acres between the town centre and River Weaver last year, cancelling an agreement with developer Wilson Bowden after its proposed scheme failed to materialise due to the downturn in the market.
The newly appointed design team will be responsible for developing a detailed scheme for planning consent and identifying potential occupiers.
A spokesman for the council said they were not at the stage of naming a development partner or funding source for the project.
Broadway Malyan had already worked with the council on revising the plans, along with project manager Fraser Blair Associates, and engineer Curtins Consulting.
There will be 205,000 sq ft of non-food retail including a 50,000 sq ft department store anchor, restaurants, a cinema, a bowling alley and three new squares.
An outline planning application for is expected to be submitted later this year.
