Copeland seeks legal partner for CPO work

Copeland council is seeking a law firm to handle its negotiations with landowners and potential compulsory purchase orders for two major schemes in Whitehaven.

The first is the 100,000 sq ft office at Albion Square earmarked for Sellafield Ltd, the new management company appointed to run the nuclear plant with the same name. The CPO will cover three separate parcels of land in two differing interests.

A mixed-use scheme is the subject of the second council plan. Two parcels in the Powbeck area, both in differing interests, are reserved for a development of housing, commercial and recreation facilities.

The contract to handle the combined brief is worth between £150,000 and £200,000 in total.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 3 April.
