Chorley agrees Mawdesley residential scheme
The council has approved outline plans for the development of 56 homes and a scout hall on land off Gorsey Lane in Mawdesley.
The residential scheme submitted by Bloor Homes will include 21 affordable properties, and the creation of public realm space.
The proposals are for a 6.4-acre site, 1.7-acres of which is currently occupied by the Goodyear Furniture Centre, which is to downsize and relocate to Goodyear Business Park.
The remainder of the site is agricultural land not currently in use.
Bloor Homes said 50 letters in support of the application were submitted to the council.
Stephen Barlow, strategic land director at Bloor Homes, said: "This development will hugely benefit the village, delivering new homes and much-needed affordable properties for local people, providing a new scout hall for the community and ensuring the long term viability of a business that has been in the village for thirty years."
Nexus Planning advised Bloor Homes. The designs for the site were done in-house.
A reserved matters application is due to be submitted in the coming months and Bloor Homes expects to start on site in 2015.
You can only build mansions in snobby little Mawdesley. Only rich,snobby, inbred old people live in Mawdesley. Any scheme trying to bring in normal, non-inbred people will be blocked by the grim gang of octogenarian snobs who rule this lifeless, snobby little commuter/retirement hole.
