Cheshire West & Chester Council has given outline planning approval for a 9.88-acre residential scheme to be developed within Cheshire Business Park in Lostock Gralam, near Northwich.
Manchester-based HOW Planning submitted the planning application on behalf of Commercial Development Projects.
CDP wanted to change part of the site for residential use following a significant slow down in the take-up of commercial property.
The application was supported by designs prepared by architects Austin Smith: Lord.
The plans have now received a resolution to approve by Cheshire West & Chester Council subject to the signing of a Section 106 agreement.
Amendments were made to the initial plans for the scheme, which will include 160 new family homes, following a community consultation and public exhibition. Concerns over access were addressed with the provision of a new point of access through the existing business park, which resulted in a more positive response.
Carol Clarke, associate at HOW Planning, said: "Residents were much happier with the revised plans and the comments we had back following the second consultation programme were more supportive. The new residential scheme fits in much better with surrounding area and will provide many benefits to the local community including, job creation, a woodland play area and a contribution from the government's homes bonus scheme."
