Calling all rugby players in North West property

The brave property people of Yorkshire have challenged their counterparts in the North West to raise a team to play for charity later this year.

Tony O'Keefe, director of industrial agency at DTZ, who played flanker for Waterloo and Birkenhead Park, has taken up the challenge of getting the best 15 together and is seeking interest from players involved in any aspect of the region's property industry from QSs and agents to architects, solicitors and – presumably to do some running – students. The team is also open to professionals connected with property in the region.

The North West team will play not only Yorkshire but also the Midlands team. Games have taken place for several years between Yorkshire and Midlands and more than £10,000 has been raised for charity in the past three years.

Players from both Yorkshire and Midlands have taken part in the national RICS rugby team and the annual RICS tour.

O'Keefe said: "If you are potentially interested in representing the region then in the first instance I would be grateful if you could email me and should you know of any players who may be interested then I would be grateful if you could send any contact information across.

The squad will be announced at the end of August.

Are you having a giraffe, Sir Clive? Rugby’s far too violent. I’ll be sticking to crown green bowling thanks.
