Bury core strategy out for review
Planners at Bury Council are keen to hear feedback on the draft core strategy, which is now open for public consultation until Friday 30 November.
The Core Strategy sets out the long-term vision for the future development of the borough over the next 15 years.
The document sets out how much development Bury will need to accommodate, areas where development will and will not be encouraged and policies on other areas such as transport, community facilities, recreation and environmental issues.
The draft core strategy recommends:
- Housing: Target of 400 new dwellings a year
- Employment: Provide 138 acres of employment land. Subject to Green Belt policy, a site at Gin Hall in Walmersley has been identified as the best opportunity to improve the quality and distribution of employment land.
- Open Land: Land previously referred to as 'Other Protected Open Land' will not be carried forward due to the need to meet development targets.
Up to Friday 30 November 2012 you will be able to view all the documents and submit your comments online on the core strategy web page.
Alternatively, you can view the documents in the reception area at 3 Knowsley Place, Bury Town Hall or at local libraries during their normal open hours. Comment forms will also be available at each of these venues.
Publication of the final version of the core strategy is timetabled for April 2013 and submission to government for approval in August 2013.
