Barclays Wealth takes floor at 20 Chapel Street

Barclays Wealth has signed to take the eleventh floor of Rumford Investment's 20 Chapel Street in Liverpool city centre.

The wealth management subsidiary will pay £20/sq ft for 8,000 sq ft and becomes the latest financial services firm to occupy the 150,000 sq ft tower, behind accountant Ernst & Young, Bank of Ireland and stockbroker Panmure Gordon.

Chris Lloyd, associate director at DTZ, joint letting agent with Hitchcock Wright & Partners, said: "20 Chapel Street is becoming the equivalent to Manchester's Marsden Street; the place to be if you are in the financial services sector."

The deal is marginally below the new ceiling for Liverpool offices of £22/sq ft and reflects the size of the space taken but also the buyer's market. The incentives such as rent-free periods were not disclosed.

Mason Owen advised Barclays Wealth.
