BAM wins £30m university contract

BAM Construction has won the job of redeveloping the world top-100 Management School at Lancaster’s Bailrigg Campus, a project partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Commenting on the contract award, the university said it “wishes to build on the Management School’s international standing by creating a world-class teaching and research environment to cater for the future needs of its students, staff and business partners.”

The 200,000 sq ft building was designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, appointed through an RIBA competition.

The project is made up of three new-build elements: the East and West pavilions, two 200-seat lecture theatres, and a café, alongside three refurbished buildings – the Graduate Management School, Gillow House and Lancaster Leadership Centre.

A planning application was submitted in March.

BAM won the job through a two-stage tender process.

Completion is due in 2019.
