New bus depot primed for approval in Preston

Preston Bus Company is seeking permission to demolish a series of warehouses and a bus depot off Deepdale Road to build a new, replacement 22,600 sq ft bus depot.

Preston City Council will be considering the bus company’s application at its planning committee meeting on Thursday. Planning officers have recommended the scheme get the green light, despite the site in question being allocated for housing in the local plan.

Under the plans submitted by Paul Gaughan Building Consultants, the project would include 128 parking spaces for buses and 79 for cars, including 19 spaces for visitors and management in the front of the building.

However, to bring these plans to fruition more than 34,000 sq ft of industrial space would need to be demolished.

Within Preston Bus Company’s application form, the business noted that despite the decrease in industrial space, the project would lead to the creation of 28 additional jobs, bringing the number of employees on the site to 214.

For those curious about the application, its reference number with Preston City Council is 06/2022/0590.
