Mountain View Lodge unveiled

A holiday home aimed at families with disabled children has been completed by Cheshire West & Chester Council at its Conway Centre in Anglesey, North Wales.

Mountain View Lodge has three bathrooms and contains fixtures and fittings designed for wheelchair users and children and young people, aged up to 19 years old, who are visually impaired as well as children with autism or who have a learning disability.

The four bedroom Mountain View Lodge, translated to Gwel-y-Mynydd in Welsh, can be used for short breaks at a cost of £50/night.

The council has worked in partnership with the National Trust on the project.

National Trust owns a 178-acre site that includes the Conway Centre, leased to Cheshire West & Chester Council, on five acres.

Designed by Liverpool-based architects Brock Carmichael, Mountain View Lodge was built within these grounds by contractor Anwyl Construction.

The Government's aiming high for disabled children scheme has funded the project. The council could not immediately disclose the cost of the project when contacted by Place.

Mike Jones, leader of Cheshire West & Chester Council, said: "This venture I am sure, will be a huge success and the feedback we have received so far has been extremely encouraging.

"Mountain View Lodge aims to create a 'hotel standard' holiday home and the aim is that once families stay here, they will be coming back time and time again."

A fenced garden, accessible parking, and level access to the lodge all feature outside.

The council said anyone interested in booking the property should call 01248 848059.
