Miller proposes 120 Widnes homes

Around 12 acres off Prescot Road could be redeveloped under proposals lodged with Halton Council.

Miller Homes wants to build a mix of houses on a privately owned part of the wider Pex Hill playing fields site, which abuts the Liverpool to Manchester railway line to the south.

The part of the site earmarked for development has not been used as playing fields for more than 10 years, according to a planning statement prepared by NJL Consulting.

Land to the east and west of the development site currently used for rugby and football does not feature within the scope of Miller’s plans.

The developer plans to provide 25% of the 120 properties on affordable tenures.

Designed by Hope Architects, the scheme would likely feature a mix of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom houses.

Really hope they don’t build houses on Prescot road playing fields. We are already losing to much green space as it is and it would be absolute chaos traffic wise which would lead to possible more accidents. Also can’t even get an appointment with my doctor’s as it is so more homes being built would only add to an already congested area. Also schooling, dentists, would be an issue. Just not practical building houses there.
