Merseytravel/Stagecoach launch bus service
A new bus service has been launched by transport authority Merseytravel and Stagecoach Merseyside aimed at giving better access to the rail network and airport.
With grant funding support from Merseytravel, Stagecoach's 86H service links Liverpool Hope university with Childwall and Liverpool South Parkway bus station, which provides rail access to Liverpool John Lennon Airport as well as national rail lines.
Les Burton, from Stagecoach Merseyside, said: "Liverpool South Parkway provides excellent bus links to both Liverpool John Lennon Airport and superb rail links on Stagecoach East Midlands Trains to Manchester."
Burton was joined by the chair of Merseytravel, Cllr Mark Dowd, and Cllr Peter Millea to launch the new service from Liverpool South Parkway.
The new service, covering Liverpool South Parkway, Woolton Road, Menlove Avenue, Childwall Park Avenue and Taggart Avenue, runs every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday daytime, and every 15 minutes during peak times.
The new 86H service will enable passengers to make connections with rail services to and from Warrington, Manchester, Runcorn, Crewe, and Birmingham.
The service will link to cities and towns in the north of England, via rail networks including East Midlands Trains, London Midland, Merseyrail and Northern.
With the right bus-rail connection, Merseytravel said passengers can travel from Childwall to Manchester in less than an hour.
