McCarthy Stone unveils plans for Huyton retirement homes

The senior living specialist wants to build 53 specialist apartments on a site off Huyton Lane, formerly home to an ambulance and fire station.

McCarthy Stone proposes to deliver a three-storey retirement complex with 37 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom homes for over-60s.

Bright Space Architects has drawn up the plans, which also include a 5,000 sq ft garden for residents. There will also be a communal lounge and guest suite.

Mobility scooter storage would be provided with space for five buggies, as well as 22 car parking spaces including two disabled. There would be 44 EV charging points, two per parking space.

To make way for McCarthy Stone’s apartments, the Huyton Ambulance Station on the site would need to be demolished. The former Huyton Fire Station, which also sat on the site, was demolished in 2018.

Planning Potential is planning consultant for the scheme. Transport Consultant Paul Basham Associates and landscape architect FDA Landscape are also part of the project team.

To find out more about the project, search for application number 00075 on Knowsley Council’s planning portal.

McCarthy Stone is active throughout the North West, recently revealing plans for 56 senior living apartments in Chester. A public consultation on that project was held in January.

About time too, this site has been available for years and it looked like it was going to stay that way, so this is positive news. There`s a lot of potential for residential in Huyton Village, especially with its rail connections and abundance of trees to provide ready made landscaping.
