MBO completes at Charles Andrews
Neil Walker is the new owner of the Trafford Park-based building services firm, allowing the retirement of Anthony and Jennifer Cryne, who took over the business in 2003.
Founded by its namesake in 1945, Charles Andrews provides mechanical and engineering services for construction and infrastructure projects. Services range from concept and detailed design throughout all construction stages, including project and contract management.
After 14 years with the company, Walker has taken over the reins following a seven-figure backing for the management buyout from asset management firm Mercia.
Walker will continue to lead the business as managing director, with the help of his wife and company secretary Victoria Cale Walker, as well as technical director Adam Woods.
Walker said: “Building services are critical to creating a safe and comfortable environment within a building, whilst minimising the environmental impact and carbon footprint.
“Our services are in increasing demand – not only from firms involved with new construction projects but especially with existing property owners seeking ways to reduce their carbon footprint.”
Andy Heaton, investment manager at Mercia, added: “Charles Andrews is a historic business that has developed over time – from its role in the post-War reconstruction to helping today’s companies meet the challenge of decarbonisation.”
David Griffiths, managing director of Sterling Capital Reserve, provided fundraising advice to the company.
