Manchester updates Cookson’s New Cross consent
Working with CERT Property, MyProtein founder Oliver Cookson has secured approval for revised plans for a green and white-clad residential scheme off Cross Keys Street.
In September 2024, Manchester City Council’s planning committee gave the nod to a 99-home build-to-rent scheme designed by Tim Groom Architects.
The following year, a revised version of the project featuring five more flats was put to the city council. This version of the development has now been given the green light under delegated powers. Gateway 2 submission is expected in the coming months.
The scheme proposes a mix of apartments and townhouses offering between one and three-bedrooms.
The site, currently a car park, was previously home to the Royal Lancastrian School and is located next to CERT’s Peelers Yard, an 81-apartment BTR apartment development off Goulden Street that was also designed by Tim Groom Architects and backed by Cookson.
Enabl advised CERT on planning matters and Civic Engineers is the structural engineer.
Novo, Hydrock, Stephen Levrant: Heritage Architecture, Proximity, Layer Studio, Redmore Environmental, LK Group, E3P, and CBRE are also working on the project.
