LSH toasts King Street revival

Lambert Smith Hampton has reported the first retail deals since its acquisition of specialist agency Tushingham Moore in April – bringing new names to King Street, Manchester.

Hobbs has taken a 10-year lease of a ground and basement totalling 1,700 sq ft at 1 King Street, vacated by Dalvey in March, paying £95,000.

Neal's Yard agreed a 10-year lease for five floors totalling 3,390 sq ft at 27 King Street, vacant since Hobbs left three years ago, at an undisclosed rent.

Hawes & Curtis agreed a 10-year lease on four floors totalling 3,229 sq ft at 46 King Street, previously occupied by Gant, £125,000.

Jonathan Thompson, director of retail and leisure at LSH in Manchester, said: "Securing these great brands is fantastic for King Street and follows on from the lettings to Jigsaw, Bravissimo and White Stuff over the last 12 months.

"There are another four units either under offer or exchanged subject to planning and the level of interest in King Street has increased dramatically over the last few months as more and more quality retailers and leisure operators commit to new stores.

"King Street is once again becoming the quality, boutique location it once was and given the depth of new requirements for King Street we are confident that the bounce back is sustainable.

"This coupled with the reduction in retail provision at both Spinningfields and Corn Exchange, means good quality retailers have limited choice for new space which should help drive both demand and rent."
