Logik eyes October 2023 start for Manchester scheme

The developer has made a series of tweaks to the approved plans for the 355-apartment Arundel Street project to pave the way for a start on site.

Enabling work for Logik Developments’ 23-storey Manchester scheme could begin as early as next month if the city council green lights the changes to the project.

The main tweaks to the plans approved in 2019 include the reconfiguration of the building’s layout and a change of thinking around how to utilise the former Dot Motorcycle Works on Ellesmere Street.

The building, which is to be retained under the proposals, had previously been earmarked for conversion into 12 apartments. However, it will now be used as commercial space. The dozen apartments are to be moved over to the reconfigured new-build tower.

Contractor Sisk & Son is lined up to begin construction in October 2023, with work due to complete by June 2026, according to planning documents.

Logik Developments was previously bringing forward the scheme with High Street Group, but is now progressing the project alone.

An earlier iteration of the Arundel Street development, a 35-storey tower comprising 384 apartments, was rejected in 2018 on heritage grounds.

Hard to see how this ungainly checker board lump is any less sympathetic than the original proposal. I was really hoping that it wouldn’t see the light of day.

Yes because the heritage argument is resolved by taking away 30 apartments lol

These guys will never build it! Given their track record, I expect the site to be sold very soon. Poor decision to consent all things considered.
