Lidl given consent in Fylde
Fylde Council has given the green light for a £3.5m mixed use development, anchored by a Lidl food store, to be built in Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire.
Advised by Indigo Planning, Lidl UK and Citypark Projects propose to build a 17,405 sq ft supermarket as well as 12,324 sq ft offices within an existing building on the site being retained.
The development will be served by a total of 127 parking spaces together with nine cycle parking spaces and three motorcycle spaces.
The 2.4-acre L-shaped site is located on Preston Road in Lytham and was formerly home to library book supplier Holt Jackson which has since relocated to Preston.
Chris Smith, associate director at Indigo Planning, said: "A small number of initial objections provoked a groundswell of support for the scheme, showing clear demand for a new Lidl store in Lytham St Anne's. While other retailers are yet to bring forward their plans for the area, Lidl and CityPark are committed to bringing back to life this disused site and providing new employment opportunities for people in the town."
The new store is expected to open in July this year.
