Land Trust appoints head of environment and biodiversity

Joe Heath has been promoted within the land management charity, more than eight years after he joined the company.

Heath started his career with the Land Trust in September 2014 as a graduate development officer, moving his way up to development manager in October 2020 and eventually environmental lead in May last year.

Throughout his career, Heath has focused on the acquisition of 741 acres of Sustainable Alternative Natural Green Space.

In his new role as head of environment and biodiversity, Heath will remain within the business development team, headquartered in Warrington.

New responsibilities include handling the specific acquisition of sites providing nutrient mitigation and biodiversity net gain.

Heath will also be responsible for the delivery of the Land Trust’s biodiversity, environment, and ecology strategy. This strategy aims to tackle climate change and ease pressures on vulnerable wildlife.

Heath commented: “The development industry is currently facing a range of challenges, from demonstrating sustainability credentials to preparing for mandatory BNG regulations, which are due to come into force later this year.

“I look forward to working with both new and existing clients across all sectors to deliver BNG solutions, which not only do the job of protecting and enhancing the local environment and biodiversity – but which are also structured as commercially as possible.”
