Laing O’Rourke lined up to build 55-storey Salford skyscraper

The contractor has signed a pre-construction services agreement with One Heritage, the developer behind the 55-storey residential tower at Salford’s Greengate.

The 173-metre One Heritage Tower was approved in January, and would be made up of 545 apartments ranging from one-, two- and three-bedrooms, as well as duplexes and penthouses covering a total of 10,225 sq ft.

Laing O’Rourke beat off competition from other major contractors including Sir Robert McAlpine and Sisk.

The One Heritage consortium is led by Manchester-based Jason Upton and Hong Kong-based Yiu Tak Cheung, with Awais Shaid of Atzuro Real Estate also advising.

Construction is expected to commence this year, with an estimated completion date of 2023/4.

Since revealing the Salford scheme, One Heritage has also expanded its Greater Manchester portfolio to include smaller projects in Oldham and Bolton.

The project team on the tower includes OMI Architects, Euan Kellie Property Solutions, Box Clever Consulting, Crookes Walker Consulting, DP Squared, SK Transport, Omega and GIA.
